Learning to Love These Technicolor Tears

Digital Photograph (Metallic Paper Mounted on Acrylic) - 2022

This piece is a series that represents my personal journey as a transgender person in discovering what it's like to feel genuine emotions for the first time. The three stages represent numbness, crestfallen realization, and finally self acceptance.

The Sound is Deafening

Digital Illustration - 2022

This represents the pressures of becoming an adult in a society of uncertainty. Where the tools to enjoy life are rarely, if ever given freely. Everything has a cost.

The 7 Deadly Sins

Clay - 2021

This is a project where I based the 7 deadly sins on Grimms Brothers fairy tales and displayed them on hand thrown bells. Each bell is fully addressed on all sides so the images don't contain the entire picture. The bells symbolize warning.

War Outside (Justice For Daunte Wright)

Photography - 2021

A young black male captured standing on top of his car during the protest happening in Brooklyn Center, MN. A fist up in the air with his left hand, and a poster demanding Justice for Daunte Wright in his right.

Micron Ink Pens - 2021

The reference image was a purple cabbage cut in half. I wanted to explore the complexity of nature through a unique lens. The stippling technique allowed me to emphasize different details and display the object on the basis of a value range alone.

Squid Kasquab

Ceramics - 2021

An intellectual squid sitting on a couch. Or a squab. However juvenile, the name, 'squid kasquab' is wordplay off of 'shish kabob' to signify the playful nature of this invertebrate's attitude.

Pine Grosbeaks

Woodblock Relief Print on Cotton Paper - 2022

A woodblock print depicting two Pine Grosbeaks surrounded by balsam fir, red pine, mountain ash, and box elder trees which the birds heavily rely on for food and shelter. They are one of the many species of boreal finches whose habitable range is currently being threatened by climate change.

Shortage

Photograph - 2021

At the beginning of the pandemic, there was an extreme shortage of personal protective equipment. Masks were scarce, ventilators were nowhere to be found, and nurses and doctors were basically dueling it out to see who could get what. This piece is an artistic representation of these events.

The Dream Orchestra & Choir

Acrylic Paint - 2021

During one of my many daydreams, an image of a pussy choir and an intersex orchestra appeared in my mind. This idea needed to materialize eventually, and this is what happened when it did.

I Killed Him

Colored Pencil, Sketch/Pencil - 2021

This piece shows how it felt when I lost someone I loved to suicide. I blamed myself. I kept thinking it was my fault, and I felt his blood on my hands. Everyday I questioned what I could've done to stop him from commiting suicide. I felt like a murderer somehow.
