This assignment was an "indirect self-portrait." I chose to show what my mornings looked like every day, making my coffee, writing letters, and enjoying the view outside, which I always looked forward to and appreciated during that time of my life.

This is a mix of veterinary interests, a love for animals, athleticism, music tastes as well as ups and downs related to mental health. An indirect self-portrait of myself.

I wanted to portray the feelings that go with having
a physical disability in this series. I have lived my entire life trapped in an obsolete body. That entails a wide range of feelings, which I only felt was right to express through my self-portrait series.

This charcoal drawing is a still-life study of a cow skull from class. It was not supposed to be 100% realistic, I like my way of capturing the texture and depth in the skull. I had never done anything like this before, I tried to add a dark tone to accentuate the morbidity.

Starting college I expected to be overwhelmed with a lot of emotions, but I did not expect to be angry almost all of the time. I have not heard of anyone becoming irritable in this stage of life and these feelings and these feelings have started to make me feel very alienated in these past couple of years.

A lot of figures in history are depicted through sculptures, busts, and/or full body. Some sculptures are in good condition although the older ones are crumbling and cracking with age. I titled it "Becoming History" to recognize the withering of the physical arts as well as physical health.
